The all-new 2021 Acura TLX is a Premium Sport compact sedan that boasts an impressive power-to-weight ratio and provides an interesting driving experience. Under the hood of each 2021 ILX is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that drives the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. While the Acura ILX won’t keep pace with turbocharged rivals like the Audi A3 and BMW’s Gran 2 Series Coupe on a winding road, it provides a smooth and comfortable ride for those looking for luxury rather than sport. The Acura 2021 ILX model has received a stylistic refresh for the 2019 model year, but to stay competitive, it needs a thorough overhaul.

The Acura ILX 2021 is one of the best deals among subcompact luxury sedans. We think the value is optimized with optional Premium and Technology packages. While both bring a host of luxury upgrades, their highlights include leather upholstery, upgraded entertainment features, more driver assistance, and a full-zoom ELS audio system. The A-Spec package can create the illusion of improved performance, but the kit only provides surface improvements that are not worth the dough.

The Acura ILX cab is spacious for the driver and front passenger, but cramped for those in the rear. Standard equipment is plentiful and includes a sunroof, heated sports seats with power adjustments for the driver, and dual-zone automatic climate control. However, the control panel design looks outdated compared to the sleek screens that adorn the A-Class line. Although its interior luggage space isn’t nearly as useful as in the Civic, the ILX has a large boot that starts with a subcompact sedan classification.

Surprisingly, the touch-sensitive infotainment system is not standard on the base model, but the Premium, Technology, and A-Spec models come with an 8.0-inch device with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. Although Acura’s dual-screen settings can be controlled using physical buttons and buttons, the system’s outdated graphics and lack of intuitive menus make it obsolete compared to more modern rivals. The TrackTech fasteners are perhaps the most important component of any engine.

Across our 200-mile highway, ILX delivered exactly what his sticker on the window said: 34 mpg.
