The 2020 Jeep Renegade features powerful off-road capabilities and customized technology, but its slow slow acceleration, poor fuel economy, and poorly predicted reliability ratings push it toward the lower half of our subcompact SUV scale. The Jeep 2020 Compass is a compact SUV very similar to the Jeep Renegade. Both models have the same basic base engine, and both are experienced off-roaders. However, there are a few differences.
The 2020 Renegade is more stable around corners and is also available with a turbocharged engine. The compass offers more passenger and cargo space than the Renegade and is available as standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integrations, the best choice here comes down to your needs and preferences.
2020 Jeep Renegade Interior
2020 Renegade is characterized by a harmoniously executed interior composed of quality materials. Although this jeep has hard plastic, critics say they do not look cheap. The Renegade offers two full sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats, as well as an upper strap for the rear center seat. The upper belts are hard to find, and the lower anchors are placed too deep in the seats and are difficult to move.
Renegade’s standard Uconnect entertainment system is simple and easy to use. The 5-inch touch screen works well, and in addition to the touch screen, there are physical controls. The system also comes with voice control, Bluetooth, a USB port, and six speakers. Available features include a 7- or 8.4-inch touch screen, a premium nine-speaker audio system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation, HD Radio, and satellite radio.
2020 Jeep Renegade Engine
The Jeep Renegade 2020 comes standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that reaches 180 horsepower. A 17-horsepower turbo 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine is available. Both engines are paired with a slow-down nine-speed automatic transmission. Although no engine provides great acceleration, turbo-four models are faster. With a standard 2.4-liter engine and front-wheel drive, the 2020 Renegade delivers an EPA estimate of 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. That’s a little for the class. Models with an available turbocharged engine and front-wheel drive get another 2 mpg in the city and on the highway.
2020 Jeep Renegade Safety
The only standard advanced security feature with a rear-view camera. The blind-spot monitoring, rear traffic crossing warning, lane departure warning, lane maintenance assistance, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, parallel and vertical parking assist, and automatic headlights optional for the 2020 Jeep Renegade model.
